Joint workshop of the Council of young doctors of the Lviv oblast and the "Preventive oncology" Subproject

 

On November 2, 2016, the members of the Council of young doctors of the Lviv oblast, in cooperation with the representatives of the "Preventive oncology and the implementation of effective anti-tumour technologies in Lviv oblast" Subproject (Subproject Management Consultant, Khrystyna Pak), visited the Truskavets municipal hospital. Head physician of the Truskavets municipal hospital, Ihor Stasiuk, started the meeting and introduced the speakers.

 

 

Thus, the head of the Council of young doctors, Yuriy Tokariev, told about the activities of the Council of young doctors in the Lviv oblast, in particular regarding activities performed in 2015.

 

Since October is the month associated with combatting breast cancer throughout the world, during the meeting held with medical personnel from Truskavets, the doctors paid special attention to breast related diseases and modern methods of early diagnosis, as well as breast cancer screening.

 

The members of the Council of young doctors, a physician and mammology oncologist at the Lviv Cancer Treatment and Diagnostics Centre, Hordiy Rybachynsky, told about "Mastopathy and pre-cancerous stages in mammology", as well as held an appointment with respect to breast examination of the patients of the antenatal clinic.

 

  

Deputy head physician for the medical unit of the Lviv Cancer Treatment and Diagnostics Centre, Orest Tril, spoke about "Breast cancer screening as a means of preventive oncology", about the value and importance of, and the possibilities associated with screening in the Lviv oblast due to the joint World Bank's and the Ministry of Health care of Ukraine "Preventive oncology and the implementation of effective anti-tumour technologies in Lviv oblast" Project.

 

Head of the Computed tomography department in the Lviv Cancer Treatment and Diagnostics Centre, Yuriy Mylyan, spoke about the "golden standard" in screening for breast cancer - x-ray mammography examination, and in general about the methods of radiation diagnosis of breast diseases.

 

The objective of the meeting held with the medical staff of all levels and specialties (family physicians, physicians, pediatricians, gynaecologists, radiologists, etc.) was to promote the effectiveness and importance of screening, while inviting as many women as possible to participate in the examination of the female health by the doctors of the "primary contact" ( gynaecological examination with cytology and mammographic examinations).

 

By 85-100%, the effectiveness of cancer treatment depends on early detection.
