On January 11, Pavlo Kovtoniuk held a working visit to Lviv. The visit began with a review of the situation associated with the implementation of the "Preventive oncology and the implementation of effective anti-tumour technologies in Lviv oblast" Subproject in the framework of the joint "Serving People, Improving Health" Project of the World Bank and the Ministry of Health care of Ukraine.
Ms. Iryna Mykychak, Acting Head of the Health care Department, introduced the attendees to the reasons for selecting the oncological direction within the "Serving People, Improving Health" Project and to the current outcomes of the subproject implementation.
"The project in the Lviv oblast is being smoothly implemented because it was well planned. There is a clear vision of further activities and of the development towards prevention and early diagnosis of cancer," - said Pavlo Kovtoniuk.
In the Lviv Oblast-level Cancer Treatment and Diagnostics Centre, the Minister got familiarized with the functioning of the new equipment purchased within the project, specifically the Carl Zeiss microscopes with integrated camera and visited the premises of the Cancer Treatment and Diagnostics Centre where medical equipment is going to be installed as well.
Note. The first delivery was held within the subproject, specifically of 11 microscopes to 7 cytology laboratories in the Lviv oblast: to the Cancer Treatment and Diagnostics Centre, to the Municipal cytology laboratory (Lviv municipal clinical polyclinic No. 5), to the polyclinic department of the Cancer Treatment and Diagnostics Centre located on Yefremove St., to Sokal Central district hospital, to Sambir central district hospital, to Chervonohrad municipal hospital, and to Drohobych municipal hospital No. 3.
"I am very pleased to visit the Lviv Cancer Treatment and Diagnostics Centre and to be involved in such an important event as the introduction of anti-tumor technologies in Ukraine. Insurance medicine, in addition to risks, also includes efficiency. It's nice to see that the objectives are well defined and confidently achieved in Lviv. We adopted the system, which implementation is planned for 3 years. Not all hospitals are ready for this transition; therefore, we established the national health care system and are now introducing a guaranteed level of care," - added Pavlo Kovtoniuk.
Pavlo Kovtoniuk and the advisor to the MoHC of Ukraine, Jerzy Miller, met with the head of Lviv Oblast-level State Administration, Oleh Syniutka, held a press conference with journalists and a meeting with head physicians of the health care facilities in the Lviv oblast and with family doctors.
