Coordination meeting of multi-district screening centres (Lviv oblast)

The first coordination meeting of multi-district screening centres from the Lviv oblast was held on March 16, 2017. The objective of this meeting was to exchange the experience gained throughout international training sessions, knowledge, and general coordination-related questions that arise in the course of setting up the work of the centers.

 

The meeting was attended by nearly 40 medical staff: radiologists and radiation therapists, gynecologists, cytologists, and surgical oncologists form the screening centres and the Lviv oblast-level cancer treatment and diagnositcs centre.

Setting up the work of the multi-district screening centre (O. Nastyoshyn).

"We need to undertake the responsibility associated with the implementation of screening in the Lviv oblast" - indicated Oksana Nastyoshyn, an obstetrician/gynecologist at the antenatal clinic in Sambir, who is also the coordinator of the screening center in Sambir.

 

It is the mutli-district screening centre in Sambir where the structure of the facility was developed in the most optimal way: gynecologists have been already working concertedly with cytologists on the site; there are rooms for mammography and ultrasound examination located nearby. Soon all of the developed mechanisms of work will be tested in practice;  the flow of patients will bring its own adjustments in the work, however, the mechanisms have been designed in a good manner. Oksana Nastyoshyn shared her experience in Sambir with the attendees.
