Health care School in the urban settlement of Krakovets

With the coming of spring, we launched an educational initiative - Health care Schools. You may ask as to what we teach in  the "school". We teach how to be healthy and to prevent those diseases which development is mainly caused by behavioral factors using simple daily routine activities.

 

This was our first visit to the outpatient unit located in the urban settlement of Krakovets (family doctor I.Zastavny) bringing up difficult but a very important topic: "Shall one fear cancer? One should fight and should not give up".

 

Interaction with women aged from 16 to 61 was held in relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Orest Tril, Deputy head physician in the Lviv cancer treatment and diagnostics centre and a surgical oncologist, spoke about the medical precautions, rational diet style, and bad habits.

 

Oksana Bokalo, practicing psychologist, introduced the audience to the psychological aspects of our "reluctance" to visit doctors and stages of experiencing diagnosis.

 

This is the first but not the final meeting with village and town inhabitants on important aspects of our health.
