Sharing experience in arranging screening in Poland

On the basis of the Lviv Communal Municipal Clinical Hospital No.5, a meeting of the trainees who underwent training session at the Polish Mother's Memorial Hospital Research Institute in Lodz (Poland) was held with respect to the screening implementation, which was attended by 15 cytologists and 17 gynecologists.
Natalia Popovych, the one responsible for the work of the municipal screening centre, a gynecologist at the antenatal clinic, presented the program and the results of training attended at the Polish Mother's Memorial Hospital in Lodz.
During the study visit, the doctors attended lectures and practical sessions; they were introduced to the work of the institute, and were presented with clinical cases.
Andrzej Kaluzynski (MD), a pathomorphologist, told about the material collection for cytological examination, about the Pap staining, as well as about the importance to first and foremost carry out the qualitative material collection for the sake of obtaining reliable interpretation of the results.
Piotr Warchi?ski, the director of the Department of health care arrangement, the director of the Centre for Quality Monitoring, the vice president of the accreditation council, the initiator and the co-author of nearly a dozen of legislative projects on medical activities, a lecturer at the Health Sciences Faculty of the Warsaw Medical University, emphasized the importance of psychological support to a patient.
Krzysztof Suszek, the director of the Department in the Ministry of Health, an expert in national screening programs for combatting cancer in the field of cytology and mammography, the author of educational curricula in the field of health, presented organized screening programs that have been implemented in Poland.
It is important that the participants of training, in particular the representatives of various groups of cytologists and gynecologists who attended training at different times, were able to share their experiences and subsequent changes in their joint work - cervical cancer screening.
The heads of antenatal clinics at the polyclinics in Lviv also attended the meeting for the purpose of coordinating work with the municipal screening center. In particular, they were informed about inviting women to undergo screening and about a referral for mammography examination of women in the age between 45 and 65 at multi-district screening centres.
This is the first coordinating meeting of gynecologists regarding the screening set-up. In the future, similar "cluster" meetings will take place in all multi-district screening centres.
