On December 18, 2015 a scientific and practical conference was held at the conference hall of the "Drevniy Grad" hotel in the city of Lviv with oblast-level participation "Modern principles of diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer."
The conference was attended by Head non-staff Specialist of the Ministry of Health Care of Ukraine in mammalogy, prof., M.D. Smolanka Ivan Ivanovych, Head of Oncology Department of Zaporizzhia State Medical University, prof., M.D. Olexiy Kovaliov and the Head of the Department of Oncology and Radiology at Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University., prof. Bilynskyi Borys Tarasovych, and prof. Savran Volodymyr Romanovych, Head non-staff Specialist of the Department of Health Care of LOSA in Oncology, head physician at Lviv Oblast-level Cancer Facility, Kovalchuk Igor Vasyliovych, and Deputy Head physician, Tril Orest Volodymyrovych and others.
The conference was attended by mammologists, oncologists, urologists and chemotherapeutists from Lviv, Drohobych, and Chervonograd, as well by oncologists from Transcarpathia, Lutsk, and other oblasts of the western Ukraine.
The conference addressed the questions of innovative approaches towards breast cancer screening, the treatment algorithms of NER + and HR + for breast cancer, and other issues relating to the sphere of mammology and oncology.
In the framework of the conference, deputy head physician at Lviv Oblast-level Cancer Facility, Tril Orest reported on innovative approaches to breast cancer screening (in cooperation with the World Bank).
Ivan I. Smolanka, the head mammologist of Ukraine, stated that "In carrying out this project, Lviv will acquire experience of the most progressive kind and will have the most advanced knowledge in the future for training subsequent practitioners in the implementation of screening in Ukraine." -
Unfortunately, Ivan Ivanovych's project bearing the name "A screening program for breast cancer" was already submitted to the Ministry of Health Care back in 2013, but remains on the website of the MoHC in the "archive" section without any updates.
The conference was very lively; the reports raised a lot of questions and discussions.
