On November 7, 2017, the opening of the photo exhibition of the black and white portrait "Without pink glasses" is launched at the Palace of Arts. The exhibition will last until November 14, 2017.

The project aims to overcome the persistent phobia in society and to acquaint the general public with the stories of charming women of all ages, from different social groups, different family conditions, living with the cancer diagnosis.

The event was organized by the NGOAthena. Women Against Cancer " and by the "Pink Ribbon of Ukraine" Foundation, with the support of the Health care Department of Lviv Oblast State Administration.

The event was attended by: Deputy Head of the Health care Department, Andriy Vasko, Deputy head physician for the medical work in the Lviv State Oblast-level Cancer Treatment and Diagnostics Centre, Orest Tril, and by "Preventive oncology and the implementation of effective anti-tumour technologies in Lviv oblast" Subproject Management Consultant, Khrystyna Pak.

It is possible to save life and to prolong it only by means of early diagnosis. Treatment in the late stages is very expensive. Even preventive measures to prevent this disease are ineffective.

The idea of the project was developed a few years ago by Olha Feshchenko, the founder of the "Pink Ribbon of Ukraine" Foundation, who is herself a patient and lives with the diagnosis of breast cancer. This idea emerged after October 20, 2016, when many women decided to frankly declare their diagnosis by joining the vernissage of artistic works.

On February 4, 2017, the opening ceremony of the vernissage was held in Kyiv at the "Lokaciya" Art Centre, and the exhibition futher moved to Lutsk.

On the occasion of the World Day Against Breast Cancer on October 20, 2017, the expanded exhibition of black and white portraits was seen by the Kyiv residents and by the guests of the Ukrainian capital in the Taras Shevchenko park. New members from different oblasts of Ukraine join the project all the time. Now there are almost 60 of them, including seven women from Lviv.

"It's nice to look at the photos by which women prove that life does not end even after the declaration of such a diagnosis. The topic is openly discussed all over the world. Cancer is just the same disease as any other; it is just harder to have it treated, and harder to detect it. You need to have the strength to overcome this fear. There are certain things that prevent these processes - i.e. an early diagnosis. For that purpose, there is screening. We launched this technology in the Lviv oblast through the World Bank's subproject. Now modern diagnostics is available for our women", - said Orest Tril.

"Looking at you, other women get confidence in the future; they learn about this problem, and think about diagnosing. It is worth making every participant bring this idea to their kins, relatives, acquaintances, and spoke about the possibility to undergo examination. That would be a great achievement", - added Andriy Vasko.

"Due to the "Preventive oncology and the implementation of effective anti-tumor technologies in Lviv oblast" project, early diagnosis became available. The screening centres were established in Drohobych, Stryi, Sambir, Chervonohrad, and two in Lviv. We are now introducing the electronic registry of women. Come to under the examination in a timely manner; treatment is expensive. Cancer is not a sentence." - stated Khrystyna Pak.

In the framework of the "Without pink glasses" exhibition, a presentation of the "Draw me tomorrow" project took place, during which women demonstrated the dresses painted for them by the artists from Poland and Ukraine.
