World Cancer Day has been proclaimed by the International Cancer Control Union in 2008, and is annually celebrated on February 4. The objective of this day around the world is to increase the awareness of people about cancer as one of the most terrible and devastating diseases of our modern civilization. Drawing attention to prevention, detection and treatment of this disease, one can achieve good results, and in some cases even full recovery.

The World Cancer Day encourages the general public to perform the tasks that the world faces in terms of combating cancer and encourages the concerned politicians and organizations, which are the members of the International Union for Oncology Diseases Control to address this problem as such that deserves high priority in terms of implementing the state policy in the health care sphere.

Currently, it is known that the origin of 43% of cancers could be prevented by focusing and observing basic rules of healthy behaviors, such as protecting children from access to smoking, combating smoking in general; physical activity; balanced and healthy food; timely vaccination against the viruses that cause liver cancer and cervical cancer; abstain from prolonged sun exposure and tanning in solarium; timely diagnosis and attention to one's own health.

There are 62,493 patients with cancer registered in the Lviv oblast.

Thus, the doctors recall to pay attention to preventive check-ups. This will help to save your health, and possibly life.
