Visit of the WB Country Director, Ms. Satu Kahkonen to the Lviv oblast

On December 7, 2016, the Country Director of the World Bank for Belarus, Moldova, and Ukraine, Ms. Satu Kahkonen, visited the Lviv oblast. In the framework of the visit, the Country Director met with the Head of Lviv Oblast State Administration, Mr. Oleh Syniutka and the team responsible for the implementation of the "Preventive oncology and the implementation of effective anti-tumor technologies in Lviv oblast" Subproject, within the joint World Bank's and the Ministry of Health care of Ukraine "Serving People, Improving Health" Project.

 

The meeting was also attended by the Program Leader for World Bank's Human Development programs, Dr. Feng Zhao, Program Leader for Infrastructure and Sustainable Development, Ludmilla Butenko, Lead Economist and Program Leader - Economic Policy, Finance, Private Sector, Governance, Poverty, Faruk Khan, Economist - Macroeconomics & Fiscal Management, Anastasia Golovach, Head of Communications, Dmytro Derkatch, and  Senior Associate Director, Ms. Valentyna Holokoz. The Subproject Management Unit and specialized doctors were also in the attendance, specifically: head specialist in the Health care Department of LOSA, Ms. Liliya Yuhymiv, Deputy Head of the Finance Department - head of the budgetary bureau, Ms. Svitlana Nakonechna, head physician in the Lviv Oblast-level Cancer Treatment and Diagnostics Centre, Mr. Ihor Kovalchuk, Deputy Head physician for medical work in the Lviv State Oblast-level Cancer Treatment and Diagnostics Centre, Dr. Orest Tril, Deputy Head physician for surgical work, Dr. Oleh Duda, as well as the consultants responsible for the implementation of the "Preventive oncology and the implementation of effective anti-tumour technologies in Lviv oblast" Subproject, specifically Ms. Khrystyna Pak and others. 

 

Acting Head of the Health care Department, Ms. Iryna Mykychak, presented the report on the implementation of the "Preventive oncology and the implementation of effective anti-tumor technologies in Lviv oblast" Subproject and expressed appreciation to the representatives of the World Bank for the support of the health care system in the Lviv oblast. Head of Lviv Oblast State Administration, Oleh Syniutka, noted that the Lviv oblast undertook great responsibility and willingness to implement important project associted with the field of health care reform and development with full openness and transparency.

 

"We received a lot of positive feedbacks about your work and look forward to visitng you again. It is very important for us to see the result. We hope that our cooperation will improve the level of health care in Ukraine. The Lviv oblast is ahead of other oblasts and this is something to be proud of,"- stated Ms. Satu Kahkonen.

 

Dr. Feng Zhao also added that since the Lviv oblast is ahead of other oblasts in terms of the project implementation, other oblasts apply its developments; correspondingly, you face new challenges, but the World Bank will seek to further assist you in solving these.

 

In addition, the experts of the World Bank visited antenatal clinic of the Lviv Communal Municipal polyclinic No. 2.
