On September 8, 2017, another multi-district screening centre was opened in the Chervonohrad Municipal Hospital. The screening centre in Chervonohrad will provide services for Kamianka-Buska, Radekhiv, and Sokal districts, as well as for the city of Chervonohrad.

"This is one of the six centres in the Lviv oblast, established through the cooperation between the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the World Bank, and the Health care Department of LOSA. All the necessary equipment is already available; now it's all up to women. They have to make time and have desire to take care of themselves and of their health", - said Oleh Syniutka.

"Undergoing examination would make it possible to detect women with the highest probability of cancer, in order to prevent it. Afterall, early diagnosis, prevention, and timely treatment are extremely important for saving women's lives", - stated Iryna Mykychak, the head of the Health care Department of the Lviv Oblast State Administration.

We would like to recall that the screening centre is equipped with a digital mammography device, with modern ultrasound device, a colposcope and a gynecological chair, with a microscope and computer equipment for maintaining the electronic registry. The centre provides a full cycle of maintaining an electronic medical card of a patient directly from the work places of the registrar, that of a gynecologist, ultrasound technician, cytologist, radiologist, and of a mammologist.

The total cost associated with the delivered equipment is UAH 9.8 mln. In addition, for the needs of gynecological screening, 22 thousand gynecological brushes and 7 thousand sets for carrying out examination have been delivered, specifically for the amount of UAH 246.36 thousand.

At the expense of the oblast-level budget (the Program of combatting oncology-related diseases in the Lviv oblast for 2017-2020), computer equipment was purchased for outpatient units for general practice and family medicine, including 11 computers for the needs of Sokal district for the amount of UAH 165.0 thousand.

One of the most common causes of death among the female population in the world is breast cancer. Every half an hour, one woman is diagnosed with breast cancer in Ukraine. The highest incidence among women is in the age group between 45 and 65, while regular mammography at that age makes it possible to detect the disease at an early stage.
