A Meeting with gynecologists and oncologists of the oblast in the framework of the Subproject "Preventive oncology and the implementatio of effective anti-tumour technologies in the Lviv oblast"

The meeting took place on September 30, 2015 with the participation of deputy head physician at the Lviv Cancer Treatment and Diagnostics Centre, Mr. Orest Volodymyrovych Tril, head of the Gynecology Department at the Lviv Cancer Treatment and Diagnostics Centre, head non-staff gynaecological oncologist at the Department of Health Care of Lviv Oblast State Administration, Ms. Svitlana Struk and the head of the Department of breast pathology at Lviv Cancer Treatment and Diagnostics Centre, Mr. Roman Volodymyrovych Ivantsiv.

 

Mr. Orest Tril also presented the attendees with information on the activities of the World Bank's "Serving People, Improving Health" Project and the subproject "Preventive oncology and the implementation of effective anti-tumor technologies in Lviv oblast". Orest Volodymyrovych familiarized the attendees with the subproject activities and stressed the important role of gynaecologists from the oblast for the project implementation: "You are not only the members of the" revolution "in health care industry, but you are the professionals whose work makes it possible to implement this subproject." As in the framework of the subproject it is envisaged to establish an electronic registry of the female population aged 18-65 in Lviv oblast, the most important step in the early stage of its implementation is the digitization of patient data for compiling the registry based on the primary data.

 

In his speech, Mr. Volodymyr Romanovych Ivantsiv focused on the need for gynaecologists to refer the patients with suspected breast pathology for examination by the experts.

 

Ms. Svitlana Struk spoke about the factors that affect the occurrence of cervical pathology, human papilloma virus and its association with the development of cancer in women, as well as the importance of observing local protocols at each district hospital when examining women. The correct algorithm of the examination will loow to avoid mistakes and justify the chance of timely diagnosis when a woman requested an appointment with a gynaecologist, because systematic medical examinations of the working population are now inaccessible due to low employment. Also the personnel of the antenatal clinics should not forget about an active work with women and medical staff at medical units to attract women to periodic preventive visits to a gynaecologist for cytological smear taking from the cervix.

 

We would like to remind that between 5 and 19 October, 2015 a campaign "Days of cervical pathology and mammary gland pathology prevention among women" will be held in the Lviv oblast. During the campaign, it is possible to undergo free examination and receive advice in any medical facility the city of Lviv and its oblast. In case of doubt and suspicion of precancerous pathology, one can refer for an expert opinion to the oncogynaecologists at Lviv Cancer Treatment and Diagnostics Centre, to obtain free comprehensive advice and dispel one's suspicion or treat the disease in a timely manner.

 

Also during the campaign it is envisaged to hold filed trips of the experts of the Lviv Cancer Treatment and Diagnostics Centre to the districts of the oblast, Yavoriv district (10.09.2015), Zhydachiv district (10.07.2015), Zhovkva district (10.09.2015), Radekhiv district (16.10.2015), and Skole district (16.10.2015). During such field missions it possible to undergo examination and receive consultation.
