Viktor Petrovich told about the features of the health care system of the Republic of Croatia, which consists of 21 regions with a total population of almost 4.5 million residents. He drew attention to the fact that the average life expectancy in the country is 86 years old!
Despite the fact that in the 1990s the country the privatization of medical institutions, their activities are controlled by the state. Most medical facilities are private primary care, but some of them are owned by municipalities. All institutions of secondary level (hospitals and hospitals) are in municipal ownership, and high-tech health care institutions are public. Since 2009, the country allowed public-private partnership, in which municipal and district authorities to conduct private medical facilities tenders for the provision of certain types of primary health care services. This enhanced the quality of services and strengthen the role of municipalities in primary health care.
