Delegation of the World Bank’s assessment mission met with Chairman

On March 23rd, the delegation of the World Bank’s assessment mission to the project regions and director of the Department of Health Viktor Lysak met with the Chairman of Poltava Regional State Administration Valeriy Holovko.

Valery Anatolyevich told about the changes that are gradually taking place in health institutions of Poltava at different levels. In particular, he focused on implementing measures on effective use of budget funds allocated for medical care area residents.

Project’s Task Team Leader of the World Bank Mr. Feng Zhao and expert Mr. David Wilson described the results of four-days workshop of foreign and national experts together with representatives of the medical field.

They informed that it is planned to implement tasks in five priority areas in Poltava region for the next 2 years with the support of the Project. There will be an assessment of the situation in the health field and a single integrated information system for all levels of care will be developed.

A strategic plan for hospital infrastructure base area will be jointly developed. In the short term prospective - the integration of emergency medical care in general medical network, and the experience of other countries, including - Poland and Croatia will help to do that. Integrated approach to address the priority issues of public health will be introduced.

In order to build effective cooperation between doctors, patients, community leaders and representatives of NGOs a series of trainings for human capacity building will be conducted. It is also planned to use the cascade method and situational analysis. In addition, special attention will be paid to the development of communication system in the health area.
