World Bank Organized Trainings for Family Physicians of Rivne region

21 family physicians from 16 districts of the region arrived in Rivne to undergo trainings. The two-day trainings under the World Bank project being implemented in Rivne region are provided by six trainers. They specialize in general practice, cardiology, neurology and anesthesiology.

Today's topic covers modern tactics of management and treatment of patients with arterial hypertension and coronary artery disease

“Today we have the first of the 24 two-day trainings for family physicians we planned for the first phase of the Project. After successful completion, the World Bank, Ukrainian Ministry of Health and Rivne RSA will issue relevant certificates for the training attendees. We plan to carry out 55 trainings over the period of four years. In total, more than a thousand doctors in Rivne region will undergo similar trainings. 10 trainings are planned by the end of this year, and 14 more by June next year, then we will move to the next phase”, commented Serhii Rybachok, Management Consultant of the World Bank Sub-project Support Consultancy Unit.

Colleagues from Volyn arrived in Rivne to adopt the best practices from their peers who are the first among the cities participating in the World Bank Project in Ukraine to launch a series of trainings for family physicians.

“Most doctors are not familiar with the latest techniques for diagnosis and treatment of various heart problems. Our goal is to change the situation for the better and familiarize them with the newest recommendations and updated international protocols already published in Ukraine. Statistically speaking, acute coronary syndrome is the most frequent pathology causing death. The share of deaths caused by cardiovascular diseases in Rivne region is 82%,” said Yurii Burdash, a cardiology instructor.

Before starting their training, family physicians from the districts took an assessment test. During the day, the doctors will work in groups to take three two-hour practical trainings with situational tasks, each by one of the three instructors. After that, they will do analysis and take another test.

We expect to see an improvement in the service we provide. If you ask me, I'm in the mood to grasp all I hear today", said Volodymyr Datsko, a doctor from Dubrovytsia.

"The level of medical services in our district is sufficient. I expect to get teachable information to improve my patients’ diagnostics and treatment,” said Alla Hopko, a doctor from Korets.

In addition to theory, the family physicians will have workshops during the training. They will solidify their new knowledge with the help of special manikins.

Sincerely and always ready to cooperate,
