Despite the fact that the activities within the World Bank Project Serving People, Improving Health in Rivne region only began early this year (when the consultancy unit was manned), some results have already been achieved. To facilitate the Project's implementation, seven consultants have been selected on a competitive basis. Their work is highly appreciated both by the World Bank management and the regional authorities.

"This is the largest health care domain project being implemented in Ukraine, and we are proud that Rivne region is on board. Compared to other regions participating in this Project, Rivne team is among the best", said Yurii Pryvarskyi, First Deputy Head of Rivne Region State Administration, during the conference opening.

During this time, the required documents have been collected from all 16 districts. Moreover, bids were invited and even contracts were signed for some procurements. The next things on the agenda are repair works and reconstruction of 105 PHC ambulatories in all districts of the region, procurement of medical equipment/office equipment and 18 class B road ambulances, and building of the registry for patients of Rivne region.

"It is important that Rivne region dwellers know the benefits of the registry for patients with blood circulatory system diseases and high-risk groups in the region. All your medical parameters will be available in a digital system and all physicians of the region will have access to it, regardless of the location of the health care facility providing medical treatment to you. You will not need to carry all your medical records, because this system will connect about 300 health care facilities in the region", said Serhii Rybachok, Management Consultant of the World Bank Sub-project Support Consultancy Unit.

As of today, 150 family physicians from the districts of our region have already passed professional trainings and received certificates from the World Bank.

"We are making every effort to organize trainings abroad for doctors and health care managers of the region. We already entered into negotiations with the Polish Medical Association and two Israeli clinics on the study visits of our cardiovascular surgeons and cardiologists. Since the number of people willing to undergo such a training is very big, we are looking for an opportunity to send, for example on a visit to Poland, twice more doctors than it was planned", said Serhii Rybachok.

The whole project is divided into three phases to be completed over 5 years. The first phase covering northern districts (Zarichne, Dubrovytsia, Rokytne and Volodymyrets) is currently being implemented. The forthcoming two phases will cover the rest of Rivne region districts.

Sincerely and always ready to cooperate,

Rivne region World Bank Sub-project Support Consultancy Unit
