World Bank Continues Trainings for Family Physicians

Health Department of Rivne RSA signed a contract with Lviv-based company IQ Holding for the second phase of trainings for Rivne region health workers. Under the agreement, the company must facilitate 18 trainings of advanced level for family physicians, doctors of medical admission units of district hospitals and emergency medical care units.

The World Bank Project Serving People, Improving Health in Rivne region covers a number of medical conferences and training sessions, the first phase of which, including two medical conferences and 24 trainings, has recently been completed. The regional Health Department now signed a contract for the second phase of similar training sessions.

“Overall, the Project covers 55 trainings and 8 medical conferences aimed at improvement of quality of cardiovascular diseases treatment. Over the past year, we have provided 24 such trainings attended by more than five hundred doctors. The second phase covers another 2 medical conferences and 18 similar trainings. Today we signed a contract under which the trainings for family doctors will begin in August this year”, said Serhii Rybachok, Management Consultant of the World Bank Sub-project Implementation Unit.

In turn, officials at the regional Health Department recognize the benefits of such activities, since family physicians directly working with patients are often the first ones able to and ought to provide aid.

“The country is currently implementing a health care reform with a main stress on family physicians. They are in direct contact with patients. So, patients’ lives will often depend on these doctors’ professionalism. It is therefore difficult to overestimate the importance of such trainings, because primary-care physicians acquire state-of-the-art knowledge and familiarize themselves with modern methods of providing patients with cardiovascular diseases with first aid”, emphasized Yurii Osipchuk, Head of the regional Health Department.
