Working meetings involving WB mission: healthcare system reforming model can be an example for Ukraine

The visit of the World Bank Mission and representatives of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in the Volyn oblast, that was held on 18-19 February, 2016, planned a series of working meetings on specific steps of sub-project implementation.
As it was mentioned by Ms. Eugenia Matyushko, Deputy Head of Advisory Support Group of nationwide Serving People, Improving Health Project, there has been no such an activity towards reforming in various sectors, particularly in healthcare till now in Ukraine. "Many organizations worldwide are willing to help us to implement these reforms, but the requirement is our desire to implement them and real actions. The model of health care reform in Volyn oblast can become a model for the whole Ukraine", - said Ms. Eugenia.

Leader of the World Bank Serving People, Improving Health Project Mr. Feng Zhao emphasised that it is positive that reforms proposed by sub-project are taking place at primary level. "For its part, the World Bank gladly will support such reforms, but oblast should have its own strategy for the development of health care in particular, at primary level. And of course, there sould be no element of corruption in reforms" - said Mr. Feng Zhao..
Leader of Sub-project Management Unit, Head of Healthcare Department of Volyn Oblast State Administration Ihor Vashchenyuk assured the mission that all proposed by sub-project reforms are the result of initiatives "from below", from rural and village communities: "Now, when the process of decentralization and consolidation of these communities is going on they are most interested in providing medical care at the primary level, so that this help was of proper quality. They need help in creating conditions: facilities, equipment, medicines, and the rest they take care of. We as a structure of healthcare system are ready to give them every assistance"..
In the end, the participants agreed on the fruitful cooperation in resolving problematic issues and future planning of specific activities.
